Jerry is committed to respecting the dignity of all people and serving our community with integrity. He has practiced civil and criminal law, with more than 15 years of courtroom experience in Spokane County. Jerry currently serves as a Superior Court Commissioner presiding over cases involving family law, civil commitments, juvenile dependencies, and guardianships. Before joining the bench, Jerry prosecuted people for sex crimes committed against children and adults, represented Child Protective Services, and litigated civil rights, torts, and collection cases.

Get to Know Jerry




Meet Court Commissioner Jerry Scharosch, a dedicated public servant with a passion for family, outdoor adventures, reading, and community well-being. In 2006, Jerry tied the knot with his beloved wife, embarking on a journey filled with love and shared dreams. Their family is blessed with three children, ages 13, 11, and 9, who bring joy and laughter to their home every day.
When not in the courtroom, Jerry and his family can be found exploring the great outdoors. Camping at Sullivan Lake in NE Washington is a favorite, along with boating on the Pend Oreille River, jogging the Centennial trail, and skiing the slopes of 49 Degrees North. Jerry has run over 20 half-marathons and participated in nearly every Bloomsday since meeting his spouse in 2004.
Along with staying physically active and healthy, Jerry loves reading as a pastime. Some of his favorites include the biographies of Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton, the Lord of the Rings fantasy trilogy, classics such as Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, and enjoying the tales from C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia with his children.
With a deep-rooted love for family, a zest for outdoor exploration, and a commitment to serving the community with fairness and reliable integrity, Jerry Scharosch embodies dedication in all aspects of his life and work.
